Saint Efisio's Church (1782) was built in Piedmontese Baroque style. Under the church there is a 9m deep cavity where the saint was imprisoned before being killed. For over 359 years, Saint Efisio has been one of the patron saints of Cagliari: the church contains three statues of the saint and is the starting point of the procession dedicated to him every year on May, 1st. About this procession, besides being among the oldest, it is also the longest Italian one, with about 65 km traveled on foot in 4 days, and the largest in the Mediterranean.
